Muscat, Jan 27
The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad, and with the support of Petroleum Development Oman Company, launched the seventh edition of the Petroleum Development Oman Company Renewable Energy Award. This edition of the award bears the title (Artificial Intelligence in Energy Sustainability) for 2025-2026, targeting students of public and private schools for (7 – 12) grades.
The launch of the award was accompanied by the screening of the award’s promotional film and promotional posters in Arabic and English, which encourage students to interact and participate. Afterwards, the registration link was launched for students wishing to participate according to the conditions required by the award. This version includes a competition for the best promotional campaign for the award at the level of educational directorates in the governorates. A set of accompanying training programs will be presented with the award, which include remote training programs and workshops by experts and specialists to promote the award and clarify aspects for student participation.
The award goes through four stages, starting with the announcement of the award, then the initial screening of the advanced ideas, and the initial evaluation stage, from which the teams will be qualified for the final evaluation. The final evaluation and announcement of the winners will be held at the Oman Sustainability Week at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in April 2026.
It is worth noting that the award aims to raise awareness among school students on the importance of using renewable energy in daily life as an alternative to fossil fuels, innovate new ways to reduce carbon emissions that are harmful to the environment, and develop students’ capabilities in skill and technical aspects.
