Muscat: His Majesty the Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Monday chaired a meeting of the Supreme Judiciary Council at Al Barakah Palace.
His Majesty stressed the essential role of the judiciary in achieving justice and consolidating the principles of the rule of law, pointing out the importance of modernizing the justice system in line with the requirements of the era and the aspirations of citizens and in line with Vision 2040.
His Majesty stressed the need to continue achieving prompt justice by accelerating litigation procedures, reducing time periods, and avoiding the accumulation of cases, and the importance of developing the digital infrastructure of the judicial sector to support prompt justice and enhance transparency. In this context, His Majesty praised the Supreme Judicial Council’s Strategy 2024-2040, stressing the importance of working to implement the operational plans for that strategy.
His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the qualitative shift witnessed by the judiciary, which met the aspirations of citizens, residents and investors by providing high-quality judicial services using modern technologies.
His Majesty commended the efforts of the members of the Supreme Judicial Council and all employees of the Council, including judges, members of the Public Prosecution, notary and all employees, praising their commitment to integrity in performing their duties. He directed to intensify training and qualification programmes for judges, members of the Public Prosecution and employees of the Council to ensure that they keep pace with legal and technical developments, and to continue to provide the Supreme Judicial Council with specialised judicial cadres.
His Majesty directed the completion of the procedures for issuing the organizational structure of the Supreme Judicial Council so that the Council can provide high-quality judicial services that contribute to enhancing confidence in the rule of law.
His Majesty the Sultan renewed his full support for the independence of the judiciary for its role in enhancing stability and achieving sustainable development, stressing the importance of cooperation between the various state institutions to achieve an integrated national vision in the field of justice.
