

SALALAH: The Municipal Council of Dhofar Governorate held a meeting on Sunday to discuss ongoing and future plans, exchanging views and proposals that underscore the Council's commitment to driving development in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The meeting, chaired by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, reviewed key indicators and the work of the Council's main committees, highlighting achievements and activities from 2024, as well as field visits and meetings with governmental and private entities.
The Council focused on initiatives by the Social Affairs Committee aimed at enhancing community solidarity through awareness programmes for various societal groups. Additionally, the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee presented efforts to address environmental challenges and improve health services, emphasising plans to promote health and environmental awareness.
In line with efforts to improve service delivery, the Governorate Development and Promotion Committee discussed the outcomes of meetings with relevant entities, including the General Directorate of Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion, youth representatives, the Farmers Association, and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Department.
A proposal was also presented to establish an integrated service station by Dhofar Municipality to cater to the land transport and freight sector’s needs in one central location. — ONA
