SAHAM: The winter camp for advanced female guides in the Sultanate of Oman officially opened on Saturday at the permanent Scout and Guide camp in the Wilayat of Saham, Al Batinah North Governorate, under the slogan 'Our Values Are the Foundation of Our Progress.'
Organised by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the General Directorate of Scouts and Guides and the General Directorate of Education in Al Batinah North, the camp has attracted 300 female leaders and guides from various governorates of Oman. It is set to run until January 30.
Sheikha bint Mohammed Al Zadjaliyah, the camp leader, highlighted that this year’s camp includes more than 20 programmes, activities and events designed to achieve its key objectives, which include personal development, artificial intelligence, robotics, augmented reality, scientific experiments and learning future skills such as cybersecurity awareness and astronomical observation.
In addition to these innovative activities, the camp also features community service programmes, such as planting, public awareness initiatives, guided tourism, leadership training, sports, adventure activities and exhibitions showcasing the creative talents of the participants. These activities are aimed at fostering a sense of responsibility, leadership and national pride among the guides.
The camp is being implemented in partnership with various governmental, private and community organisations, with a focus on empowering Scout and Guide leaders in managing and leading these programmes. The event aims to unify the practical practices of Scout and Guide traditions while strengthening Omani national identity and reinforcing humanitarian values and positive attitudes among the guides. — ONA
