Oman’s young bowling star and member of the national men’s team, Musab al Adawi, clinched the title of Muscat International Bowling Championship which was concluded on Monday as part of Muscat Nights Festival 2025 at Seeb Bowling Centre.


As many as 147 players representing 14 countries from across the world took part in the event which ran for 10 days since January 10 under the organisation of Oman Bowling Committee (OBC) in cooperation with Muscat Nights Festival.


Musab al Adawi, who hails from Bahla, won the first-place trophy and cash award of RO 8,000 following his sensational display among the world's top bowlers including Tun Hakim, the reigning world champion from Malaysia, besides Kuwait bowling team, bronze medallists in the recent Bowling World Cup.


Players competed fiercely through the preliminary, semifinal and final stages, showcasing top-tier talent. All the players were competing for a prize pool of RO 30,000, the highest in the region.


Speaking after the final match, winner Musab al Adawi said that this was a moment of pride. “I am very pleased by winning this essential title particularly against elite global players from the World Cup. Taking this prestigious title among world champions is a great honour for me and Omani bowling in general," he said.

“I will keep the momentum high to deliver my excellent execution in the upcoming tournaments, which will provide invaluable learning opportunities,” he ended


The final match registered a tough competition between Oman’s Musab al Adawi and Kuwait’s Aseel al Roumi. It was a closely contested as Al Adawi emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 189 with 175 points for Aseel. The 22-year-old dominated in the final stages particularly during the decisive frame where he sealed the win after a missed opportunity by Al Roumi to secure enough points.


Following the final match, chief guest Sayyid Ahmed bin Hilal al Busaidy, Wali of Bausher, delivered the awards and trophies to the top winners in presence of Shaikh Said bin Rashid al Qatabi, Chairman of OBC, Dr Sami al Wahaibi from Muscat Municipality and Hisham bin Salim al Sinani, Director-General of Development and Sponsorship at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.


Kuwaiti bowler Aseel al Roumi took the runner-up trophy and a cash award of RO 4,000, while Mahmoud al Attar of the UAE took third place with a cash prize of RO 3,000.


Ziad al Tuwairefi from Saudi Arabia finished fourth and Oman's Mohammed al Hashmi came in fifth position. Malaysia's world champion Tun Hakim finished sixth ahead of Hassan al Kharousi in seventh. Hyun Min Kim from South Korea ended in eighth position.


Shaikh Said al Qatabi, Chairman of OBC, expressed gratitude to all sponsors including Muscat Municipality, Muscat Nights organisers and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. “ This event saw record-breaking participation and we have plans to host similar events in the future. Also, we will work with our stakeholders to organise some mega events in the coming period,” he added.
