

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education (MoE), represented by the Directorate-General of Projects and Services, held a preparatory workshop to launch the implementation of its 2024 projects. This includes the construction of 43 new school buildings across various governorates, aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and providing an improved learning environment for students.
The workshop featured several working papers. The first addressed the distribution of engineering teams to project packages, while the second discussed specifications, plans, and new developments, including framing opportunities, challenges, preparations, financial expenditures, and technical specifications.
The third paper focused on quality assurance in project implementation and supervision. I
t outlined mechanisms for verifying observations, scheduling supervision visits, appointing designated chiefs for design and implementation, ensuring continuity in their absence, and providing training for engineers and technicians.
The fourth session reviewed reporting and planning methodologies, presenting models for reports and plans, the project management document (RACI), electronic forms, and alignment with quality management standards. The fifth paper covered material, supplier, and subcontractor approvals, proposing mechanisms for team involvement in approvals and the distribution of suppliers to projects.
The Directorate-General of Projects and Services aims to establish clear supervision methodologies, resolve challenges affecting project implementation, and develop innovative procedures. Additionally, it seeks to integrate technology to facilitate operations and make informed executive decisions to ensure the success of its educational projects.
