MUSANDAM: The 7th Omani Stroke Conference, held in Musandam, concluded with vital recommendations to enhance stroke diagnosis, treatment and care. Key proposals include adopting advanced protocols to streamline diagnosis and treatment, improving ambulance systems and strengthening coordination between ambulance services and emergency departments to boost stroke response efficiency.


Organised by the Oman Stroke Association in collaboration with the General Directorate of Health Services in Musandam and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the two-day event brought together prominent stroke specialists, doctors and medical assistants from Oman and abroad.


The conference emphasised the importance of regional research collaboration and the interplay between strokes and cardiac health. Dr Amal bint Mohammed al Hashimiyah, Senior Consultant in Neurology and Chairperson of the event, highlighted innovations in diagnosing thrombotic and hemorrhagic strokes, treatments for cerebral conditions and protocols to improve outcomes.

Dr Saad al Faqi, Head of Khasab Hospital’s Emergency Department, commended the event's role in sharing expertise and technologies that address stroke challenges and improve healthcare services in the region.


The programme featured discussions on stroke-related cardiac effects, heart conditions associated with strokes, innovations in treating thrombotic and hemorrhagic strokes. The event concluded under the auspices of Shaikh Dr Saif bin Mohammed al Ghaithi, Wali of the Wilayat of Bukha, who lauded the collaborative efforts to advance stroke care.
