MUSCAT, JAN 19
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), in collaboration with Muscat Municipality, has issued a clarification regarding technical issues encountered by users of the lease contract registration service on the Oman Business Platform.
The service, recently launched as part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance and reengineer services for beneficiaries, is designed to simplify and streamline the process of registering lease contracts. Before its official release, the service underwent a trial phase in a testing environment. However, as users began accessing the platform, technical issues were identified, prompting swift action by a joint technical team from MoCIIP and Muscat Municipality.
In its statement, the Ministry confirmed that most of the issues have now been resolved, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a seamless experience for beneficiaries. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank our users for their patience as we worked to address these issues,” the Ministry stated.
The Ministry has urged users to ensure building address details are updated by scanning the QR code linked to their properties. It also encouraged beneficiaries to submit new lease contract applications via the Oman Business Platform, which has been designed to centralise and simplify business-related services.
The lease contract registration service forms part of broader efforts by MoCIIP and Muscat Municipality to modernise public services, aligning with Oman’s Vision 2040 objectives to advance the country’s digital economy.
The Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability and efficiency is further reflected in a new ministerial decision issued on January 13, 2025. This decision, published in the Official Gazette, enhances Oman’s administrative and regulatory frameworks. Building on Royal Decree No. 18/2019 and Ministerial Decision No. 146/2021, the updated guidelines aim to streamline governance and align operations with global best practices.
These initiatives underscore Oman’s dedication to strengthening governance, improving services, and ensuring compliance with national directives and international standards. Together, they reflect the government’s focus on delivering high-quality, efficient services for businesses and individuals while fostering a modern, robust economy.
