Muscat - The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) will implement several projects in 2025 according to the latest internationally approved technical specifications.

The Director General of Roads and Land Transport said that in coordination with the Tender Board, road projects worth RO300 million were awarded in 2024, which included the three packages of the dual carriageway of Sultan Said bin Taimur Road (Adam - Thumrait) that starts from the Wilayat of Haima to the Wilayat of Thumrait. This project has been awarded to three contractors and is expected to start implementation during the first quarter of this year.

The Ministry is implementing the remaining works of the Sultan Taimur bin Faisal Road project (Al Batinah Coastal), which has reached a completion rate of about four percent, and construction work is proceeding at a rapid pace and in line with the time plan.

The Sultan Faisal bin Turki Road Project (Dibba - Lima - Khasab) in Musandam Governorate is one of the most important strategic projects implemented by the Ministry; as the completion rate has reached about 27 percent, and the service roads (dirt roads) have been opened at a rate of 100 percent to facilitate the contractor implementing the project.

Sultan Turki bin Said Road (Shariqyah Expressway) has reached a completion rate of 20 percent, a new road has been completed and opened to traffic with a length of 4 kilometers, starting from the beginning of Al Kamil and Al Wafi Wilayat to the “Tahwa” area in the Wilayat.

The Wadi Bani Khalid road project has been assigned to a specialized company, and the contractor is currently in the design period which will take 6 months. The new road will be implemented as an alternative to the current road, with the slopes on the road being reduced.

The road linking the Sultan Qaboos bin Said Road (Al Batinah General Road) and Al Batinah Expressway is currently being completed at a rate of 90 percent, expecting that all the packages linking the road will be completed during the middle or last quarter of this year.
