MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has sent a cable of congratulations to General Joseph Aoun on the occasion of his election as a President of the Lebanese Republic and on taking the constitutional oath.
His Majesty the Sultan expressed his sincere sentiments to General Joseph Aoun, wishing him success in leading the Lebanese people towards the realisation of the desired goals of stability and security.
His Majesty the Sultan also commended benign bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the Lebanese Republic. He expressed his keenness on the development of bilateral relations in a manner that serves the common interests of the peoples of the two countries.
President Aoun in his inaugural speech said that the country is entering a new era and sought "the best possible relations with brotherly Arab countries."
