Initiative launched to address traffic congestion in Nizwa

NIZWA: A meeting was held in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to discuss the ‘Crowd Management and Traffic Congestion Management Initiative in the Wilayat of Nizwa', aimed at alleviating traffic congestion, improving public transport routes, and providing modern and safe transportation options. The initiative is designed to reduce traffic accidents and minimise travel time for visitors.


Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, emphasised the governorate’s dedication to enhancing public transport services in collaboration with relevant authorities. He highlighted how this initiative will strengthen the tourism and investment sectors while providing exceptional services that mitigate traffic-related challenges.


During the meeting, the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, in partnership with Mwasalat and the Royal Oman Police, presented a visual overview of the proposed crowd management project, scheduled for implementation from January 11 to 31. Nizwa University also shared its future urban vision for improving public transportation and enhancing the urban environment to ease mobility and address traffic issues.


The project will offer free public transport via buses linking the Farq area with Nizwa Market Square, operating on designated routes to ensure efficient and flexible movement. - ONA
