

KHASAB: The third GCC Gathering of the Ship for World Youth, hosted in Musandam from December 19 to 21, concluded with a workshop titled ‘Musandam – Gateway to Beauty and Sustainable Tourism'.
Organised by the Omani Committee for the Ship for World Youth in collaboration with the Khasab Sports and Cultural Club, the workshop focused on enhancing sustainable tourism while preserving the governorate’s cultural and natural heritage.
Adel bin Ahmed al Shanfari, Chairman of the Omani Committee, highlighted the event as a model of collaboration, emphasising the alumni's role in promoting Oman’s cultural and tourist appeal globally. He praised the partnership with the Governor’s Office of Musandam and other stakeholders for ensuring the event's success.
Participants from Oman, the GCC, and countries like Japan, Mexico and South Africa engaged in cultural exchange, scenic tours and discussions on sustainable development. Activities included exploring Musandam’s iconic mountains, turquoise waters and historical landmarks like Khasab Fort.
Reflecting on the gathering, attendees described Musandam as a region of stunning natural beauty and cultural depth, often referred to as the ‘Norway of Arabia'. They commended the event for fostering connections, blending tourism with community initiatives, and showcasing the importance of human relationships in sustainable development.
This successful gathering reinforced Musandam’s status as a unique cultural and tourist destination, leaving participants inspired by its landscapes and enriched by shared experiences.
The organisers of the Musandam Winter Season emphasised that the gathering aims to present Musandam as a comprehensive cultural and tourist destination while utilising the presence of Ship for World Youth alumni, who are considered among the elite youth worldwide, to directly connect with Musandam's youth. This initiative seeks to facilitate the exchange of experiences and ideas on how to enhance the governorate and showcase it on the global tourism map.
