

MUSCAT: Emulating the world-class flower festivals from across the globe, Oman’s first flower festival will kick off as part of the Muscat Nights Festival organised by Muscat Municipality, which runs across multiple venues in Muscat from December 23 to January 21, 2025, according to the Muscat Municipality sources.
The festival will showcase a wide collection of internationally renowned floral designers from countries as diverse as France, Netherlands, US, alongside florists and designers from Oman and the rest of the region. Madhvi Ramesh Khimji, acclaimed floral artist from Oman along with her group of local designers have been confirmed to be a part of the month-long floral fest.
The Sultanate of Oman, being the first country in GCC to be a member of the World Association of Floral Artists (WAFA), will see for first time a flower festival of this stature taking place in the country.
Some of the attractions of the festival experience includes a Grand Floral Centrepiece, Roots of Wonders, Canopies of Dreams, measuring 9 metre in height on the highest point of the display which will surely captivate all festival goers.
For nearly a month, the Qurum Natural Park will be transformed into an impressive floral spectacle along with a unique and beautifully designed Show Gardens specially created by an international team from Singapore, Thailand, China and US.
Sources at the Muscat Municipality hoped that this collaboration of world-renowned florists and the civic authorities will elevate Muscat’s winter calendar and entertainment avenues in Muscat, offering visitors a unique blend of cultural and artistic experiences as it aims to celebrate the beauty of nature, arts and diverse environments.
Speaking to Observer, Hanan bint Abdullah al Shuraiqiyah, Technical Supervisor of the Muscat Flower Festival, Muscat Municipality, said that the first edition of the Muscat Flower Festival would be a sure-shot to entertain families who can also explore a variety of hands-on activities that combine art, nature and creativity.
“From crafting floral bracelets and crowns to painting flower pots and sculpting clay animals and objects, the young and young at heart can unleash their creativity and connect with nature. It promises to be an adventure for all ages, incorporating interactive experiences that ignite curiosity, foster a love for nature, and create lasting memories,” she said.
Alongside, there will be an array of shops where local vendors would offer local varieties of frankincense as well as perfumery besides various sellers who offer fresh flowers, handmade crafts, seeds and the like besides floral-inspired food and beverages for a grab.
