India’s head coach, PR Sreejesh, praised his team’s ability after their thrilling 5-3 victory over Pakistan in the final match of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024, which concluded late on Wednesday night at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat.
“This tournament served as a significant learning experience for us as we prepare for the FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup 2025, which will be hosted in India,” said Sreejesh.
“Every match in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 was crucial and I am immensely proud of my players for securing victories in all their games and finishing on a high note.”
Looking ahead, Sreejesh emphasised the importance of meticulous planning for the FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup 2025. “With a year to go until the FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup, our technical preparations will soon begin. We aim to play more matches against European teams and organise additional training camps to refine our strategies,” he added.
India’s forward, Araijeet Singh Hundal, also shared his joy at the team’s triumph, expressing satisfaction with their championship win. “We are thrilled with our performance in the tournament. The team faced some tough challenges, especially in the knockout stages. Ending the event on such a high note boosts our confidence as we gear up for next year’s World Cup,” Hundal remarked.
He acknowledged the hard work ahead. “The technical preparations will be even more rigorous, and we are looking forward to taking on this critical assignment. Our success here has set the tone for our ambitions at the FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup 2025,” he added.
