Muscat: Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, received in his office on Wednesday Shaikh Mubarak Fahad Al Jaber Al Ahmad al Sabah, Director-General of the GCC Joint Programme Production Institution (GCCJPPI), who is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman.


The meeting dealt with various areas of cooperation in developing media programmes that highlight issues of common concern to GCC states.


The meeting was attended by Mohammed bin Said al Balushi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information, and other officials from the Ministry of Information.


During the visit, Shaikh Mubarak al Sabah toured Oman News Agency (ONA), the News Centre, the Digital Studios Complex and the Directorate-General of Electronic Media.


He listened to a briefing about news content provided by the departments of the Ministry of Information. He took note of the departments’ advanced technical apparatus and programmes that keep pace with the requirements of modern media. These include “Ayn” platform, visual and audio materials that have been produced over decades by the Ministry of Information, represented by Radio Sultanate of Oman and Oman TV and their role in enhancing the media message. — ONA
