The Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition has brought together key Omani companies to showcase their contributions to the Sultanate of Oman’s food and agricultural sector. The event provided a platform for businesses to present their innovations, highlight their role in enhancing food security, and foster opportunities for local and international collaboration.

In a dedicated corner, Farha al Kindi, CEO of Al Mina Fisheries Products, emphasised the company’s dedication to innovating traditional fish products since its establishment in 2019. Operating under the Bronze Rozna initiative, Al Mina is managed by a team of Omani women who are committed to elevating the quality and appeal of traditional Omani fish products.

“Our mission is to enhance traditional fish products, making them more appealing to consumers while maintaining their distinctive quality and taste,” Al Kindi stated. The company’s offerings include salted fish, fish powder, pickled squid, fish achaar, fish in coconut sauce, and other innovative items like fish in Indian masala and dried kash fish. With a factory capable of producing 5 tonnes per month, the company is focused on expanding its reach to international markets under a trusted Omani brand.

Dr Hadi Mohsin al Lawati, CEO of Osool Poultry SAOC, highlighted the company’s commitment to strengthening Oman’s food security by breeding parent poultry and producing high-quality fertilized eggs. The company commenced commercial production in July 2021, achieving an annual capacity of over 175 million fertilised eggs, supplying both local and international markets.

The company’s facility in the Ghafteen area of the Wilayat of Haima spans 47 square kilometers and includes six breeding farms, 12 production farms, and an advanced feed mill with a capacity of 20 metric tonnes per hour. A fully equipped on-site laboratory ensures rigorous quality control. Dr. Al Lawati noted, “Osool Poultry’s efforts align with Oman Vision 2040, contributing to food security, economic diversification, and regional development.”

At a dedicated corner, Asyad Group showcased its integrated logistics solutions that support Oman’s food industry, with a particular focus on cold chain logistics. Leveraging its extensive assets, including free zones and ports, the company highlighted its ability to provide end-to-end solutions for food storage and transportation.

Recently, Asyad established Asyad Logistics to manage shipping and re-shipping operations. The group also operates one of the largest warehouses in Halban, designed to accommodate various temperature ranges for food products, alongside dry storage facilities in Muscat and Salalah. These efforts align with Oman’s vision of enhancing logistics capabilities and promoting the country as a re-export hub.

Oman AgroFood 2024 has once again proven to be a vital platform for showcasing the contributions of Omani companies to the food and agriculture sectors. By highlighting innovative solutions, fostering collaboration, and providing opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to present their capabilities, the event underscores its role in promoting economic growth and sustainability.
