

MUSCAT: Oman’s rising stars in mental arithmetic showcased their brilliance on an international stage as 44 young participants from Brainobrain Oman competed at the 12th International Brainobrain Abacus Competition in Dubai. Held on November 23, at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, the event celebrated the incredible mental computation and problem-solving skills of children from around the world.
The programme’s success is further evident in its annual National Competition, with the 6th edition set to take place on February 15, 2025, at Middle East College in Al Khoudh. The event promises to be another milestone for Omani talent.
The international competition, which featured 2,036 contestants from 18 countries, challenged participants with rigorous three-minute assessments in mental computation, both with and without an abacus. The event underscored Brainobrain’s global reputation, bolstered by its two Guinness World Records for achievements in mental arithmetic.
Reflecting on their achievements, Brainobrain Oman’s Chairman, Zaher al Sulaimani, remarked, “It gives me great pleasure to see our students competing at such a high level with peers from around the world. Their dedication and preparation exemplify the values of Brainobrain. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each participant.”
Brainobrain Oman has empowered Omani youth through its Advanced Skill Development Programme. This initiative sharpens mental fitness, fosters multi-tasking, and enhances overall brain development, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of over 200,000 children globally.
A parent of one of Brainobrain Oman’s participants shared, “The competition was an incredible experience for my child. It provided great exposure and allowed her to test her skills against international talent.” Such experiences highlight the transformative power of education and innovation championed by Brainobrain Oman.
The host city of Dubai witnessed a gathering of young prodigies from various nations, all competing for glory and celebrating the unifying power of education. As the curtains closed, the achievements of Oman’s delegation stood out as a source of pride for the Sultanate of Oman, demonstrating the country’s commitment to fostering intellectual growth among its youth.
Brainobrain Oman, which operates centres in Al Ghubra, Al Wadi Al Kabir, and Al Hail/Seeb, sent its brightest minds to represent the Sultanate of Oman. Among them were standout participants such as Ghina Hamza, Ibrahim al Harthy, Younis al Shukaily, and Sultan al Burtamani, who embodied the excellence and dedication the programme nurtures.
