MUSCAT: Moza al Hasani, a former driving instructor, has become the first Omani female school bus driver in the Indian School System, marking a significant milestone in the national women empowerment movement.
Residing in Bausher, Moza now ferries students and teachers across Muscat in buses with 15 to 24-seat capacity. Her appointment underscores the expanding opportunities for Omani women in various sectors.
“I completed my education up to Plus-2, and life pushed me to seek a job for my livelihood at the age of 20. After working at a factory in Ghala Industrial Area, I realised my passion for driving. Today, I’m proud to transport children and teachers shaping our future safely,” Moza told the Observer, reflecting on her inspiring journey.
Licensed to operate buses and heavy vehicles, Moza is celebrated for her resilience and determination, earning admiration wherever she drives.
Rayees Ahmed, President of the School Management Committee (SMC), lauded the appointment, stating, “Who can care for children better than a mother? Supporting Omanisation and women empowerment, we ensure the safety of our students with Moza at the helm.”
Papri Ghosh, the school’s principal and the first female principal in Oman’s Indian School stream, emphasised Moza’s inspirational story. “This appointment is a testament to visionary leadership in breaking barriers and planning for a progressive future,” she noted.
Moza’s journey, from factory worker to trailblazer, is a testament to her unwavering determination. Her story encourages Omani youth to pursue their dreams despite life’s challenges. “The path to success may not always be smooth, but persistence leads to achievement,” Moza added, inspiring a new generation to dream big.
