Al Bashayer crush Dhofar 95-28 in dominant display

Al Bashayer Club achieved a massive 95-28 victory against Dhofar Club in the Oman Basketball League 2024-2025 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Tuesday.


Al Bashayer dominated the game from the outset, showcasing exceptional offensive and defensive performances. Precise shooting and cohesive teamwork allowed them to win all periods of the match. Standout players for Al Bashayer included Nooh al Mahrouqi, Sylvain Mob Koufis, Mahmoud al Suli, Hadeed Bait Bakhit, Said al Saadi, Osama al Riyami and Said Ghassan. On the other hand, Dhofar's players, led by Ayman al Tarshi and Ibrahim al Maqbali, made efforts to reduce the deficit.


Al Bashayer started strong, with Sylvain Mob Koufis and Mahmoud al Suli scoring nine consecutive points before Dhofar responded with two points by Nawaf al Balushi. Al Bashayer continued their momentum with a three-pointer from Nooh al Mahrouqi, extending their lead to 10-2. The final minutes of the first quarter saw exchanged offensive attempts, but Al Bashayer's superior teamwork and fast-paced play gave them a commanding 27-9 lead at the end of the quarter.


In the second quarter, Al Bashayer maintained their intensity. Mahmoud al Suli and Sylvain Mob Koufis added five points early, increasing the score to 32-9. Dhofar responded with a successful shot from Mohammed al Mahrami, but back-to-back three-pointers by Sylvain Mob Koufis and Nooh al Mahrouqi widened the gap further. Al Bashayer's dominance in capitalising on offensive opportunities ended the first half with a significant 49-19 lead.


The third quarter saw continued supremacy from Al Bashayer, who scored 27 points. Nooh al Mahrouqi excelled in mid-range shots and drives, while Sylvain Mob Koufis added crucial long-range points. Dhofar's attempts to bridge the gap were stifled by Al Bashayer's solid defence and fluid gameplay.


Entering the final quarter with high morale, Al Bashayer maintained their offensive pressure, adding another 19 points through fast transitions and accurate shots by Mahmoud al Suli and Said Ghassan. Dhofar managed only five points in the quarter, struggling to penetrate Al Bashayer's strong defence. The match concluded with an emphatic 95-28 victory for Al Bashayer.


The match was officiated by a team of referees led by international referee Wafa al Samri as the first referee, Ali al Salmani as the second referee and Thabit al Hinai as the third referee. The table officials included Munira al Numani, Yaqoub al Nadabi and Fatima al Harthy.
