Salalah - The third edition of the Frankincense Season in Dhofar Governorate will start on Wednesay at Al Baleed Archaeological Park in Salalah.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism at Al Baleed Archaeological Park and Wadi Dawkah Reserve, will continue until December 6.
Khalid bin Abdullah al abri, Director General of the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, said in a statement to Oman News Agency that the event comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to focus on the historical role of the frankincense tree throughout ancient civilizations.
The Frankincense Season program will witness a live demonstration of how frankincense products and extracts are manufactured, scientific and cultural activities dedicated to children under the title 'The Little Trader', in addition to an exhibition of companies that use frankincense in their products.
The venue will have a restaurant corner, a pleasure boat experience in Khor Al Baleed, and a children’s theater. This season will also witness the planting of 100 frankincense trees in the Wadi Dokah Reserve, and on December 2, there will be a celebration of the inclusion of the Frankincense Land sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
