Muscat: The announcement of the winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts, and Literature will be made at a press conference on Wednesday,.
The award, in its 11th edition, spotlights Omani achievements across three categories: environmental studies in culture, radio programmes in arts, and eloquent Arabic poetry in literature.
This year’s focus in the culture category was on environmental studies, reflecting the award’s commitment to critical areas of human and social sciences, which include language, history, heritage, philosophy, translation, and media studies.
The arts category recognised diverse creative fields such as music, fine art, sculpture, photography, and theatre, celebrating Omani talent in acting, directing, and performance.
Meanwhile, the literature category aims to honour excellence in Arabic poetry, along with other literary forms like novels, short stories, and literary criticism.
Launched in 2011 by Royal Decree No. 18/2011, the Sultan Qaboos Award seeks to honour intellectuals, artists, and writers whose work has enriched the collective cultural conscience and contributed to the renewal of thought. Reflecting Oman’s legacy and ongoing contributions to civilization, this award underscores the Sultanate’s dedication to fostering cultural awareness and preserving its intellectual and artistic heritage.
