LONDON: The Sultanate of Oman, through its Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT), concluded a successful presence at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, held from November 5 to 7, 2024. Drawing considerable attention from global travel industry leaders, Oman’s pavilion underscored the nation’s appeal as a prime destination with diverse cultural and natural offerings.

Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, expressed appreciation for the engagement and highlighted Oman’s dedication to becoming a global tourism hub, crucial to the country’s economic diversification efforts. He thanked both government agencies and private stakeholders for their contributions.

The event featured a notable performance by the Royal Muscat Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Guard of Oman Opera Choir at Drury Lane's Royal Theatre, organised in collaboration with the Omani Embassy in the UK. The concert was supported by entities including Oman Petroleum Development Company, Oman LNG, the Global Integrated Energy Group, and Asyad Group.

The Ministry launched “Stop,” an initiative aimed at promoting Oman as a transit destination for global travellers, in partnership with Oman Air and the national travel operator Visit Oman.

Additionally, a new promotional film debuted, showcasing Oman’s unique landscapes and cultural heritage.

Meetings with officials from various countries, including representatives from Visit Britain, explored new tourism collaborations. Oman’s industry stakeholders also connected with international partners; Qusay al Shabibi from Golden Highlands Company shared that the event fostered valuable global connections, while Mohammed al Shehhi of Khasab Tour Company emphasised the strategic partnerships gained, aiding Oman's tourism objectives. — ONA
