MUSCAT: Oman’s total production and import of natural gas reached 42.222 billion cubic metres (bcm) by the end of September 2024, marking a 4 per cent increase from 40.88 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2023. According to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), industrial projects were the main consumers, accounting for 61.4 per cent of gas usage, or 25.922 billion cubic metres.


The gas usage for oil fields reached 8.88 billion cubic metres, while power generation stations used 7.231 billion cubic metres. Industrial areas consumed 187.8 million cubic metres by the end of September 2024.


Non-associated gas production, including imports, accounted for 33.626 billion cubic metres, while associated production contributed 8.596 billion cubic metres.
