Haj registration begins from Monday

Muscat: The online registration for performing Haj rituals for the Hijri year 1446 will begin on Monday, according to the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs. Omanis and expatriates aged 18 and above can log on to the website (http://hajj.om) for registration.


The two-week long registration window will continue until November 17 following which the ministry will scrutinise the applications and the results will be sent to the applicants. Speaking to the Observer, Abdulaziz bin Masoud al Ghafri, Deputy Chief of the Mission for the Affairs of Pilgrims and Haj Campaigns, said that as many as 14,000 applicants will be selected to perform Haj this year, and those selected will be informed in due course of time.Last week, the ministry issued a decision to form the Omani Haj Mission 1446 AH with Ahmed bin Ali al Kaabi as the Deputy Chief of the Mission for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Abdulaziz bin Masoud al Ghafri, Deputy Chief of the Mission for the Affairs of Pilgrims and Haj Campaigns.


Every year, the Omani Haj Mission is formed to extend support to pilgrims and assist them before, during and after performing Haj rituals. He further said that 13,586 applicants were selected to perform Haj last year, which included 6,683 men, constituting 49 per cent of the total and 6,903 women.
