Muscat: The Izki-Nizwa road dualisation project covering (Qaroot South - Birkat Al-Maouz - Farq) has been awarded to Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) announced on Sunday.
The 30.2 km project will expand the existing road from Qaroot South Roundabout in Izki, passing through Birkat Al-Maouz, and ending at Farq in Nizwa.
In an online statement, Galfar, one of the largest, multi-disciplined engineering and contracting companies, said the project includes constructing 10 new roundabouts and upgrading two existing ones to improve traffic flow.
Additionally, a traffic signal will be installed near the Ministry of Defense building to enhance road safety.
Meanwhile, this dualization project will help boost local connectivity between areas, support economic growth, and provide a safer and efficient route for road users.
