MUSCAT: Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals recently represented the Sultanate of Oman at Singapore’s “International Energy Week,” where Unde-Secretary Mohsen bin Hamad al Hadhrami highlighted Oman’s green hydrogen ambitions. His working paper emphasised policy formation and partnerships with both international and local stakeholders to drive Oman’s green hydrogen economy forward. Accompanying him was Dr Firas bin Ali al Abduwani, Director General of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen, who contributed insights into Oman's renewable energy initiatives.


The conference explored a wide range of energy topics, such as the future of traditional and clean energy, global energy transition strategies, and the critical role of international collaboration in achieving sustainable goals. The event marked the inauguration of the International Energy Agency’s first regional office outside Paris, underscoring Singapore’s leading role in energy transition and international cooperation.


Sessions focused on the integration of renewable energy and the importance of global energy connectivity to secure supplies while reducing emissions. Topics included fossil fuels’ role in energy stability, advancements in carbon capture and storage, and new nuclear reactor technologies. The event also showcased pathways for industries crucial to clean hydrogen, like steel and electricity generation.


Bilateral meetings were held between various international delegations, fostering cooperation on electricity market reforms, renewable energy advancements, and clean hydrogen development. The accompanying exhibition allowed participants to explore the latest innovations in renewable energy, hydrogen, and emissions management, offering Oman insights into pioneering technologies for a sustainable economy.
