

MUSCAT: League leaders Seeb defeated Sohar 3-1 in the conclusion of the eighth week matches at Seeb Stadium while Al Shabab earned a crucial 1-0 victory over Ibra. Al Nahdha beat Saham 2-0 while Sur registered a 1-0 win over Al Nasr. Earlier on Saturday, Bahla managed to secure a thrilling 2-1 win over Al Rustaq while the match between Al Khabourah and Oman Club ended in a 2-2 draw.
With the conclusion of the eighth round matches, Seeb and Al Nahdha remained at the top with 21 points, with preference to the Muscat-based team by goal difference. Oman Club in third place is the closest team to the league leaders with 17 points while Al Nasr is in fourth position with ten points. Bahla, Al Shabab and Al Khabourah are in the middle order with seven points. Al Rustaq, Sur and Ibri are at the bottom of the league with four points.
The competition is very tough between Seeb and Al Nahdha as they remain unbeaten teams in the league. Both teams are working hard to continue their winning ways and are waiting for the defeat of their opponent to go top in the table. Seeb will start their Asian AFC Challenge League 2024/25 season assignment on Saturday. Seeb will host group C teams including five-time Bahraini league champions Al Ahli, Hilal Al Quds and Syrian league winners Al Futowa SC. Seeb will begin their campaign with a match against Syria's Al Futowa SC on Saturday.
Al Shabab registered its second win in the league against Ibri, who are struggling at the bottom of the league table. Bahla, who returned to the top-tier league benefiting from Dhofar's drop from the Omantel league this season, registered a thrilling win and moved up to fifth position while the defeat cost Al Rustaq dearly as they dropped to the danger zone at tenth position with four points.
The seventh week star of the Omantel league was Essam al Subhi from Al Shabab Club after his top show with the team in the recent matches. The eighth week star will be determined in the next round. The forthcoming round of matches will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as Al Nasr will take on Bahla while Sohar will face Al Nahdha. Ibri will play against Sur while Al Shabab challenge Saham. Al Rustaq will meet Al Khabourah.
