MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT) seeks to provide incentives and facilities to attract major wedding planners from foreign countries as it will strengthen the local economy and promote the Sultanate of Oman as a distinguished tourist destination, which attracts more tourists for various purposes such as recreational, cultural, business tourism and others.

The Sultanate of Oman hosted six weddings from the Republic of India last year and four in the first half of this year. Three more weddings have been confirmed to be held by the end of this year and the number of invitees to the wedding ceremony ranges from 400 to 800 people from different countries and target markets. The Sultanate of Oman will host about 4 international weddings during the second half of this year.

Omar bin Salim al Jabri of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said, "The wedding tourism sector provides a unique and distinctive experience for couples wishing to organise their wedding in the Sultanate of Oman, as the Sultanate of Oman is characterised by its picturesque landscapes and rich culture, making it an ideal destination for weddings."

The Sultanate of Oman has many luxury hotels and tourist resorts that provide services for organising five-star weddings, such as Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Hotel, Kempinski Hotel, and St Regis Al Mouj Hotel, in addition to some four-star hotels such as the Sifawi Hotel in Muscat Governorate. Omar Al Jabri pointed out that wedding organisation services are available in the Sultanate of Oman, which include comprehensive organisation of all aspects of the wedding ceremony, starting from designing decorations, flower arrangement, choosing the menu, hospitality arrangements, and organising photos and videos, providing translation services, and other services.

Al Jabri said "The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is keen to benefit from this sector in coordination with Oman Airports, the Royal Oman Police, hotels, and tourism companies to provide the necessary facilities to make this type of tourism a success. It sets annual plans to ensure increasing the attraction of weddings to the Sultanate of Oman, as the Ministry seeks to attract major international companies specialised in organising weddings and promoting wedding tourism through global platforms and holding specialised promotional workshops in cooperation with tourism representation offices, tourism companies and hotels operating in this sector."

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism provides all the required data and responds to inquiries received from international wedding organisers and families about holding wedding parties, as well as providing all the required information about the Sultanate of Oman as the best hotel facilities for holding weddings, offers, packages, logistical services, procedures for obtaining tourist visas and other inquiries.
