DOHA: The Sultanate of Oman affirmed that the Asian continent boasts many factors of progress and prosperity, most notably the population density and vast geographical area distinguished for its diversity of natural resources. It added that if these advantages are well invested, great progress can be achieved in various sectors.
Oman made the statement during the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit held in Doha under the slogan 'Sports Diplomacy'.
In his speech on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman during the conference, Dr Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, stressed the importance of cooperation to enable each country to benefit from the resources available to other countries. In this context, he called upon the conferees to avail the services provided by the Sultanate of Oman, notably in the logistics and maritime transport sector.
At the conclusion of his speech, Al Saqri affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to regain their rights guaranteed by international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
Al Saqri pointed out that humanitarian tragedy in Palestine will in a few days continue for a full year amid complete international inability to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip that resulted in the martyrdom of not less than 41,000 people and left tens of thousands wounded and displaced.
He added that the aggression also caused massive destruction of infrastructure, buildings and property.
Al Saqri pointed out that the escalation of events in Palestine and Lebanon requires all to make sincere efforts to prevent the deterioration of the situation or its escalation into a comprehensive war. He explained that it is difficult to predict the repercussions and devastating outcome on the countries and peoples of the region. - ONA
