MUSCAT: The National Competitiveness Office (NCO) has issued the 2nd edition of Oman Competitiveness Annual Report 2023.
The report reviews the Sultanate of Oman’s performance in the map of international indices that the office keeps monitoring to help raise public awareness about international indicators.
The report serves as a reference for government and private institutions and researchers interested in the rating of Oman, compared to other countries of the world.
The report includes 14 important international indicators issued by global organisations and institutions that address economic, social, political and environmental aspects.
The report covers 7 main indicators already included in the 'Oman Vision 2040' document. These indicators were analysed and followed up by the relevant authorities with the aim of improving them.
The indicators deal with global competitiveness, economic freedom, global governance, corruption perceptions, environmental performance, global innovation and network readiness. This was in addition to seven other sub-indicators in which the Sultanate of Oman’s performance was analysed and referred to the relevant authorities.
The report comprised the outcome of all sub-indicators included in the versions of international reports issued in 2023.
The NCO seeks to improve the Sultanate of Oman’s performance in international indices, notably those included in Oman Vision 2040 document.
Besides monitoring and analysing analyse the Sultanate of Oman’s performance in these indices, the NCO submits periodic reports on those indices to the National Competitiveness Committee and to the parties entrusted with improving those indicators.
Working teams are formed in cooperation with the departments concerned to monitor the application of improvements and proposals made by government units. The teams study the extent to which such action would improve the competitiveness of the Sultanate of Oman in international indices.
The NCO also communicates with international organizations to correct and update the Sultanate of Oman’s data shared with these organizations. - ONA
