Oman marks International Day of Older Persons

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman marked the International Day of Older Persons which is celebrated on October 1 annually, on Tuesday.


The Department of Social Development in Al Buraimi Governorate, in cooperation with the Joint Team for the Elderly, organised an event under the slogan ‘Their Time is Present’.



The Wilayat of Shinas in North Al Batinah Governorate also celebrated the International Day of Older Persons. The celebration included an exhibition of the services provided by community institutions to the elderly in the fields of health care, education and community awareness.


The Directorate- General of Social Development in Al Dhahirah Governorate, celebrated the International Day of Older Persons through several activities including a trip for elderly people within the Wilayat.



The Directorate- General of Social Development in South Al Batinah Governorate, celebrated the International Day of Older Persons under the theme ‘Aging with Dignity’.


Al Masarra Hospital in the Wilayat of Al Amerat, in cooperation with the Omani Women’s Association, the Ihsan Association, organized a celebration under the auspices of Shaikh Salem bin Rabie al Sunaidi, Wali of Al Amerat.
