Oman's producer price index sees 3.3% increase

MUSCAT: The producer price index in Oman experienced a 3.3 per cent rise in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, as reported by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.


Key contributors included a 5.2 per cent increase in the mining and quarrying sector, driven by a 5.4 per cent rise in crude oil and natural gas prices and a 6.2 per cent increase in mineral ore prices. Conversely, stone and sand product prices fell by 1.6 per cent.


In manufacturing, prices rose by 0.5 per cent, with food, beverage, and textile products up by 2.4 per cent, and transportable goods by 1.1 per cent. However, metal products, machinery, and equipment saw a 1 per cent decrease. Additionally, electricity prices climbed by 2.2 per cent, while water production prices surged by 5.5 per cent. — ONA
