SALALAH: Omani cyclist Shabib Al Balushi triumphed in the Salalah Mountain Bike Race, a highlight of the Salalah Tour's fourth edition this year. The event was organised by Dhofar Municipality in collaboration with the Oman Cycling Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth.


In the general category, Shabib Al Balushi secured first place, with Shahab Al Qamshoui and Hilal Al Shahoumi finishing in second and third place, respectively.


In the youth category (under 23), Mundhir Al-Hasani claimed first place, followed by Yahya Al Qasimi in second, and Kuwaiti cyclist Mohammed Hassan in third.


Mary Grace from the Philippines won the women's category, with Britain’s Emma Fonton and Oman’s Amira Al Obaidani coming in second and third, respectively.


In the 40 years and above category, British cyclist Tim Fontaine took first place, Omani Labib Al Lawati was second, and Omani cyclist Mansour Al Mahrouqi finished in third.


The race, featuring participants from Oman and abroad, covered a distance of 18 kilometres, divided into three 6-kilometre laps. At the conclusion of the event, Khalifa bin Khamis Al Jabri, Vice President of the Oman Cycling Federation, awarded the winners and acknowledged the supporting entities and contributors to the race’s success. - ONA
