The Wilayat of Sohar is home to many natural and archaeological sites that attract tourists from around the world. One of the most significant sites is the sulphurous ‘Ain Sahban’, located between the mountains in the village of Al Araib, approximately 50 km from the main road in the centre of the Wilayat of Sohar.

The waters of ‘Ain Sahban’ flow continuously throughout the year, maintaining their turquoise colour regardless of the weather. The water is warm in winter and moderate in summer.

As the water emerges from the ground, it mixes with rocks that release a white sulphurous substance, changing the water's colour.

Many people visit this site, particularly those suffering from skin diseases. Studies have shown that sulphur water can treat conditions such as chronic eczema, psoriasis, and skin allergies.

The site's popularity is not just due to its natural beauty and sulphurous water; there are also numerous archaeological sites on its mountain plateaus.

Visitors can see walls, old houses, and tombs constructed from stones and mud near the water springs, adding to the area's charm.

The village is a blend of vibrant colours, with clear water reflecting the green hues of surrounding agricultural oases.

The oasis produces high-quality crops, including palm trees, mangoes, various citrus fruits, grapes and olives. Farmers also grow onions, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, and corn.

Due to the rough terrain, visitors can only access this unique site with four-wheel drive vehicles.

Signs on the site warn against swimming in the pools, especially after heavy rains when water levels rise significantly.

Visitors are also prohibited from disturbing the nearby archaeological sites.
