SUHAR: Sohar University held its 7th Teaching and Learning Conference on September 5, focusing on 'Digital Transformation and 21st Century Skills.' The event, hosted under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Al Busaidi, the Wali of Sohar, took place on the university campus and was attended by the university’s executive management.


The conference commenced with a welcome speech from Professor Hamza Idris on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.


The keynote addresses were delivered by Dr Aisha Al Harthi from Sultan Qaboos University, who spoke on 'Transformation in Higher Education in Oman: The Strategic Potentials of Open Micro-Credentials,' and Dr Abdel Latif Al Sellami from Qatar University, who presented on 'Digital Transformation in Gulf Cooperation Council Education: Aspirations, Opportunities, and Challenges.'

The conference included parallel sessions covering diverse themes such as Learning Proficiency, The Role of Technology in Education Management, AI in Teaching, Student Perspectives, Learning Management, and Learning Development. Additionally, workshops were held on 'Student Success Frameworks: Integrating Employability and Graduate Attributes,' led by Dr Kristian Rumble from the UK, and 'Experiencing AI-Based Tools in Engineering Education,' conducted by Professor Nael Barakat from the US.


A total of 75 researchers from Oman and countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, and the UAE participated. Dr Zainab Al Zaghir, Chair of the Center for Educational Development, highlighted the conference as a significant platform for discussing advancements in education and the integration of technology and AI to enhance learning.
