Muscat: The latest satellite imagery and analysis of the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, show that tropical storm Asna downgraded to a deep tropical depression with its centre presently 220 km away from the coast of the Sultanate of Oman (Ras Al Hadd) and speed of the surface wind around the centre rages between 28 knots to 33 knots.


The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center predicts the weather system to further downgrade to a tropical depression over the next 12 hours. The governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah and South Al Sharqiyah witnessed rising waves of between 3 to 5 metres with seawater extending to low-lying coastal areas.
