Senior supervisors convene to enhance supervisory practices

MUSCAT: he Ministry of Education, through its Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, is holding a two-day educational meeting for senior supervisors across various academic subjects.


The event, which gathers over 240 participants from the Ministry's General Diwan and educational directorates in the governorates, was inaugurated by Saif Al Julandani, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision.


This annual meeting underscores the Directorate's commitment to providing professional support to supervisory roles, particularly senior supervisors, while keeping pace with rapid developments in education and educational supervision.


It also aims to further the objectives of the Directorate’s five-year plan, which includes the activation of educational supervision teams, with senior supervisors playing a pivotal role.


The first day featured a training session led by an expert from the Queen Rania Training Academy, focusing on support methodologies in supervisory practices.


The session aimed to clarify concepts related to supervisory practices and educational support, offering models tailored to the nature of the teacher, context, and prior knowledge.


The second day of the meeting will involve specialisded sessions for each subject, bringing together senior supervisors with curriculum, evaluation, and training specialists. These sessions will address key aspects of supervision, review recent developments in curricula and evaluation, and work towards practical solutions for identified challenges. Additionally, a series of training papers will be presented.


In the latter part of the day, Prof Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, will engage in a discussion session with participants, offering guidance and insights to help senior supervisors enhance their technical work within the educational directorates.


The meeting's overarching goal is to develop the capabilities of senior supervisors, equipping them with the skills to build and implement effective supervisory work plans, measure their impact, and foster an environment of positive collaboration to improve supervisory performance.
