SALALAH: The Dhofar Beauty and Milking Festival commenced on Thursday in Salalah, organised by the Salalah Wali Office in collaboration with the Oman Camel Racing Federation and Dhofar Municipality. The festival, which runs until September 30, features the participation of 230 camels and will span three days.

The festival is dedicated to preserving Oman’s national identity, heritage and culture. It aims to ensure the sustainability of traditional practices and encourages the Omani community to invest in heritage preservation, recognising its historical and cultural significance for camel owners across the Sultanate of Oman.

A highlight of the festival is the beauty contest, set to begin on August 18, which will take place over three rounds, featuring Omani camels from the plains, mountains, and the highly anticipated challenge category. — ONA
