The latest updates and analysis from the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that Oman will experience the effects of an upper-level low from the Arabian Sea starting Monday, August 19th, 2024, through Wednesday, August 21st, 2024. This system is expected to cause cloud advection over much of the Sultanate, with chances of isolated rain and occasional thunderstorms.

Details of Daily Weather Condition:

Monday and Tuesday, 19th – 20th of August:

Cloud advection is anticipated across most governorates of Oman, bringing isolated rains of varying intensity. The governorates expected to be most affected include Dhofar, Al Wusta, Al Dhahirah, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, and Al Dakhiliyah.

Expected Impact:

* Rainfall between 15-45 mm may cause the flow of wadis in some areas.

* Fresh downdraft winds with speeds ranging from 15-35 knots (28-65 km/h) may lead to the movement of unstable objects.

* Horizontal visibility may decrease during thunderstorms, with rising dust due to downdraft winds.

* Rough seas are expected along the Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts, with waves reaching up to 4 meters in height.

Wednesday, 21st of August:
