Wadi Al Nakhr in Al Hamra witnessed the organisation of the 'Women's Hiking' event, where the participants walked a path extending for five kilometres with the participation of more than 100 girls from different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The participants lived an exceptional sporting experience in the embrace of the picturesque nature of Wadi Al Nakhr.
The event comes within the programme of the Summer Sports in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate for the year 2024. Iman bint Saeed al Dihaniya, from the organising committee of the event at the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, explained that the event witnessed a great turnout since the first day of its announcement, as women from different governorates of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate contacted each other to register and participate.
Iman confirmed that the event seeks to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and promoting sustainable tourism, noting that Wadi Al Nakhr is one of the important environmental sites in Al Hamra Governorate, and invited everyone to discover its natural beauty. She praised the team spirit that distinguished the participants, stressing the importance of sports in strengthening social ties. She expressed her intention to continue organizing similar women's events in the coming years, with the aim of developing women's sports in the governorate.
For her part, Moza al Abri expressed her happiness to participate in the event, stressing the importance of sports for women as an essential part of life. She pointed out that hiking is one of the favorite sports for women, and has witnessed increasing interest from the relevant authorities in recent years. She explained that the event was an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature and develop physical fitness, extending her thanks to the team in charge of organizing the event.
Reham al Abri, another participant, described the hiking experience in Wadi Al Nakhr as a unique and unforgettable experience, as it combined the beauty of nature with the spirit of challenge. She stressed that the organization was precise and met the requirements of security and safety, expressing her hope that the Summer Sports Program in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate would witness more events for women in the future.
