MUSCAT: The Ministry of Labour and Omantel announced a new partnership to train and qualify 86 Omani graduates in cutting-edge technologies.
The two parties have signed a cooperation agreement to implement the "National Skills Development Programme " through Omantel Academy. This programme will provide participants with international experience and professional certificates in various fields, including Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things and Data Science.
The agreement, which aims to bridge the skills gap between education and labour market demands, was signed by Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour, and Talal bin Said al Maamari, CEO of Omantel.
The programme spans two years and will provide graduates with international exposure by engaging with real-world scenarios, R&D centres, and local and international innovation hubs and companies.
Dr Mahad said: "We are proud to partner with Omantel to equip 86 graduates with the skills of the future and enable them to compete for job opportunities, particularly in high-demand fields. This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting the development and empowerment of Omani youth."
Talal bin Said al Mamari, CEO of Omantel, said, "This agreement aligns with our vision to support national efforts to enhance the skills of Omani youth and prepare them for the digital economy, in line with Oman Vision 2040. This partnership also reflects Omantel Academy’s commitment to offering the best programmes and solutions in emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and big data analysis."
Omantel Academy was established this year and is dedicated to developing job skills, future skills and modern technologies that align with rapid technological development, such as virtualisation, big data analysis, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
