MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman witnessed a notable increase in hotel revenues for establishments classified as 3 to 5 stars during the first half of 2024. Revenues surged by 8.6 per cent, reaching RO 119.493 million, compared to RO 110.68 million in the same period of 2023, as per data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
This revenue boost is largely attributed to a 10.7 per cent rise in the total number of hotel guests, totaling approximately 1,045,226 by the end of June 2024, up from 944,268 guests by the end of June 2023. Additionally, the occupancy rate experienced a growth of 2.7 per cent.
The statistics highlighted an increase in Omani guests by 7.4 per cent, reaching 363,240. Gulf guests rose by 3 per cent, totaling 75,066. Other Arab guests saw an 11 per cent increase, amounting to 49,040.
European guests recorded a significant rise of 19.2 per cent, reaching 298,247. Guests from the Americas numbered 32,090, while those from Africa saw a slight increase of 0.8 per cent, totaling 5,528.
