MIRBAT: The Wilayat of Mirbat has officially launched its activities for the Dhofar Khareef season, with events organised by the Office of the Wali of Mirbat. The festivities commenced on Friday and continues until August 16.
In an interview with ONA, Hamdan bin Hamad Al Junaibi, Wali of Mirbat, emphasised that this year’s events come with a fresh vision, aligning with the broader goals of the Dhofar Khareef Season.
The focus is on showcasing the unique heritage, culture, society, and economy of Mirbat.
The wali highlighted the inclusive nature of the event, with all segments of the local community actively participating. This includes productive families, job seekers, voluntary and sports teams, and traditional arts groups. Their involvement is expected to enhance tourism, attract visitors, support the local economy, and boost commercial activity in the state.
The events, set against the backdrop of the historic Mirbat Fort, will feature performances of traditional Omani arts, poetry evenings, awareness lectures, and a range of cultural and entertainment activities.
In addition to these, the programme will also offer a variety of marine and rural environment events, a special section for productive families to sell traditional foods, sports activities, recreational electric games, and artistic concerts performed by renowned artists from Oman and abroad. – ONA
