SALALAH: This year’s khareef season activities at Wadi Darbat, one of the biggest attractions of the season, has seen a significant improvement in organisation, thanks to the tangible efforts of Dhofar Municipality, according to Yousef bin Mahad, a boat project owner.

Yousef highlighted that the organisation this year was much better compared to the previous year, which positively impacted the experience of visitors and tourists.

However, he drew attention to some challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprise owners, who are experiencing delays in obtaining licences.

Despite these challenges, Yousef noted that the turnout of tourists at Wadi Darbat’s various attractions was very good, emphasising that the service providers are committed to safety and quality standards.

He added that all SMEs operating in Wadi Darbat are well-established ‘Riyada’ card-holding businesses that contribute to the local economy in Dhofar Governorate.

In this context, Yousef called on the responsible authorities to facilitate and simplify procedures to ensure the continuity of these projects and provide greater job opportunities for job-seekers.

Yousef affirmed that the khareef season in Salalah represents an excellent opportunity for job-seekers to engage in these temporary initiatives, enabling them to earn a good income while also highlighting the rich tourist potential of Dhofar Governorate.

Yousef appreciated the efforts of the Royal Oman Police and the Public Authority for Civil Defence for their constant presence in Wadi Darbat to ensure the safety of visitors and tourists.

It is worth noting that basic services in Wadi Darbat are nearly complete, providing visitors with a comfortable and safe tourism experience.
