Muscat Municipality signs lease for modern park and sweets factory

MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality finalised an agreement yesterday with Saud bin Hilal Al Sabri LLC to lease municipal land in the Al Mabela South area of the Wilayat of Seeb. The purpose of the lease is to develop a modern park with a wide range of public and commercial facilities, along with the Diwaniya Omani Sweets Factory. The signing ceremony took place at the municipality building in Darsait, attended by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Saud bin Hilal al Sabri, the owner of the Diwaniya Omani Sweets project.


Under the terms of the agreement, Saud bin Hilal Al Sabri LLC has been granted a 20-year lease on a plot of municipal land spanning 31,182 square metres. The development plans include the establishment of a public park featuring amenities such as walking and cycling paths, children's play areas, green spaces, sports courts, table tennis facilities, an amphitheatre, event spaces, kiosks, cafes run by small and medium enterprises, as well as service facilities like restrooms, car parking, and prayer areas.


The signing ceremony was attended by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Saud bin Hilal al Sabri, owner of Diwaniya Omani Sweets project.

Furthermore, a section of the project facing the public street will be designated for the construction of the Diwaniya Omani Sweets Factory. This factory will incorporate a visitor experience center where guests can learn about traditional Omani sweets manufacturing techniques and ingredients.


In his remarks, Al Humaidi emphasised Muscat Municipality's commitment to leveraging its assets for broader societal benefits, beyond mere financial gains. He described the agreement as a prime example of purposeful collaboration between the public and private sectors, aimed at enhancing social responsibility initiatives, fostering city and province development, creating job opportunities for local talents, maximising local value addition, and contributing to economic and social development objectives.


Muscat Municipality remains dedicated to enhancing partnerships between the public and private sectors and engaging with local community entities to spearhead projects and initiatives that promote sustainable growth. The Municipality's efforts are focused on providing essential resources for regional service, urban planning, and neighborhood development to bolster tourism, boost the economy, facilitate overall development, and enhance residents' quality of life, all in harmony with the goals set forth in Oman Vision 2040.
