NEW YORK: The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) underscored the need to coordinate efforts to speed up the implementation of the sustainable development agenda at the global level.

This was stated by Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority (EA) and President of the United Nations Environment Assembly while addressing the seventh session of the UNEA High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development held in New York City.

The chairman of the EA pointed to the environmental challenges facing Planet Earth and the impact of conflicts in the Gaza Strip and many parts of the world.

He touched on the initiatives and decisions taken at the sixth session of UNEA related to climate change, fighting pollution and loss of biodiversity. He reviewed goals 1, 2, 13, 16 and 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals and the efforts being made by UNEA to achieve these goals. — ONA
