MUSCAT: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) proudly marked the graduation of over 600 young Omanis from the ‘Imdaad’ programme at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. This initiative aims to create job and training opportunities for Omanis in both the oil and gas sectors and beyond.

The graduates completed a range of training programmes — technical and non-technical — designed to meet the skill requirements of PDO and its contractors, supporting government efforts to provide employment for job seekers. The training, lasting from 7 to 24 months, took place at various institutes and companies.

Programmes included the Lifting Operations Programme, Health, Safety and Environment Practitioners, Electrical Protection Engineering, Information Technology, among other specialisations.

Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Mohsen bin Hamad al Hadhrami, the ceremony's sponsor, lauded PDO's efforts in training and qualifying Omani youth. He highlighted this achievement as evidence of PDO’s commitment to enhancing local content, especially in providing job opportunities through the "Imdaad" programme.

Dr Aflah bin Saeed al Hadhrami, Director General of PDO, emphasised that the national programme reflects the company’s dedication to enhancing the skills and capabilities of Omani youth in the oil and gas sectors. Since its inception in 2011, "Imdaad" has contributed significantly to creating thousands of job and training opportunities for Omanis. — ONA
