The Ajwaa Al Ashkharah Forum in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali will launch its second edition tomorrow. The forum which attracted over 220,000 visitors and participants last year will further enhance the tourism status of the governorate.
The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate will witness the Ajwaa Al Ashkharah forum from July 10 to 31, 2024 in Al Ashkharah Niyabat in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali.
This includes a variety of activities and events that aim to highlight the tourism, entertainment and historical aspect of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali as it also enhances domestic tourism to the governorate.
Among the anticipated activities at the forum are Al Ashkharah Bicycle Racing Challenge for fans of bicycle racing and adventure, as well as handicrafts exhibitions for productive families and handicrafts, popular foods, Omani folk arts performances in addition to events, activities, water sports, and recreational and beach competitions to enhance community and tourism interaction.
Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, said that the Ministry pays special attention to tourism events, believing in their direct and indirect impact in stimulating tourism movement in targeted destinations, supporting tourism promotion efforts, and encouraging investors to establish future tourism projects there.
It is expected that the forum will witness wide participation, as Al Ashkharah is famous for summer tourism due to its distinctive summer atmosphere and low temperatures. The lowest temperatures here is less than 30 degrees Celsius during the morning and decrease to a large extent at night, in addition to its consistency with summer vacation for students.
The forums held in various governorates contribute to strengthening the governorate’s resources and providing people with additional sources of income by encouraging the local community to pursue the horizons of self-employment and entrepreneurship through the economic activities accompanying the forum.
The priorities of Oman’s future vision will also receive attention and follow-up, including the priority of developing sustainable governorates and cities.
Cultural, entertainment, tourism, and sports festivals and forums are an effective tool for strengthening the local economy and promoting sustainable development by supporting tourism, encouraging craft industries, stimulating local services, promoting trade exchange, and enhancing community spirit.
