SALALAH, JULY 2

The Taqah Sports Club's Cultural Committee, in collaboration with the Wilayat of Taqah's Omani Women's Association, recently hosted a training course titled "How to Use Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT."

Held under the auspices of Khalid bin Ahmed bin Ali Tabook, Director of the Social Development Department, the event aimed to empower participants with the knowledge and tools to navigate the emerging world of AI.

Dr Taha Abdel Aal, a distinguished AI expert, led the session, focusing on equipping attendees with practical skills for both personal and professional use. This initiative aligns with the committee's commitment to fostering community development through technical expertise.

Dr Abdel Aal elaborated on the workshop's objectives, which included introducing AI fundamentals, exploring its diverse applications, and providing hands-on training with user-friendly tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney and Google AI Experiments. Participants gained a foundational understanding of AI's various forms, its impact on healthcare, transportation, education and business sectors, and the practical capabilities of these accessible AI instruments.

Expressing his enthusiasm for guiding AI novices, Dr Abdel Aal said, "In today's world, AI is a cornerstone technology across numerous fields. Mastering its skills is crucial to harnessing its potential and shaping its future." He further highlighted the workshop's approach: "We designed an engaging and informative environment, explaining complex concepts in a clear manner, while offering participants the chance to experiment with AI tools firsthand."

Ahmed al Maashani, Chairman of the Committee, emphasised the event's significance as the first of many such endeavours. "We're a dedicated team that strives to identify initiatives that benefit our region. By expanding educational opportunities through workshops and courses, we aim to cultivate a more informed and culturally enriched society," he said.
