Muscat: In a move aimed at boosting local commerce, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) announced on Monday that commercial establishments in Oman no longer need prior permission from the ministry to run promotions and offers.

According to the statement, this decision, made in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Authority, is designed to stimulate commercial activities, enhance market competitiveness, and provide products at reasonable prices.

Key Conditions for Discounts and Promotions:

Duration: Discounts and promotional offers must not exceed 3 consecutive days per week.

Frequency: Promotions should not be offered more than 3 times a month.

Discount Limit: The maximum allowable discount is 30%.

While prior permission is no longer required, establishments must still notify the Consumer Protection Authority if they intend to offer discounts or promotional offers. Notifications should be sent to the following email address: CSDG@pacp.gov.om.

The ministry's initiative aims to create a more dynamic market environment, benefiting both businesses and consumers in Oman.
